Woolly Loops ("we", "our", or "the app") is a crochet pattern generation app designed for children and families. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable privacy laws including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
Information We Collect
Information Stored on Your Device Only
- Pattern Data: Crochet patterns you create are stored locally on your device
- Progress Data: Your stars, achievements, and completed steps
- Pro Status: Whether you have purchased the Pro upgrade
Information We Do NOT Collect

- ❌ Passwords
- ❌ Location data
- ❌ Personal information of any kind
How the App Works
🤖 Pattern Generation (AI-Powered)
When you create a crochet pattern, your text description is sent to our secure server, which forwards it to the Anthropic Claude API for processing. The AI generates a pattern based on your description and returns it to the app.
- Text descriptions are sent to Anthropic's API via our secure server
- Descriptions are not stored on our server after the request completes
- Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy
📸 Image Upload (Pro Feature Only)
If you use the Pro image upload feature, your image is:
- Sent to our secure server, which forwards it to the Anthropic Claude API
- Used solely to generate a crochet pattern inspired by the image
- Not stored on our servers after the request completes
- Processed by Anthropic under their data handling policies
We recommend parental supervision when children use the image upload feature.
Third-Party Services
Anthropic (AI Pattern Generation)
- We use Anthropic's Claude API to generate crochet patterns
- Text descriptions and images (Pro only) are sent to Anthropic for processing

In-App Purchases
- Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store
- We do not have access to your payment information
- Payment data is handled entirely by Apple/Google
Advertisements (Free Version Only)
- We display kid-friendly advertisements via Google AdMob
- Ads are configured for child-directed content (COPPA compliant)
- We use non-personalized ads only
- No behavioral tracking or targeted advertising

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Woolly Loops is designed for users of all ages, including children under 13:
- We do NOT collect personal information from children
- We do NOT require account creation
- All app data stays on the device
- Ads are configured for child audiences (non-personalized only)
- No social features or user-generated content sharing
- Image upload requires Pro subscription and we recommend parental supervision
Data Storage & Security
- All app data (patterns, progress, achievements) is stored locally on your device
- Deleting the app removes all locally stored data
- API communications use HTTPS encryption in transit
- No personal data is stored on our servers
Your Rights
Since we don't collect or store personal data on our servers:
- Access: Your data is on your device — you can view it anytime in the app
- Deletion: Uninstall the app to remove all local data
- Opt out: You can use the app offline for saved patterns (pattern generation requires internet)
